NURS 207 - Professional Practice for the Registered Nurse - Bridge Credit(s): 2 Contact Hours: 2
This lecture course is designed for the Licensed Practical Nurse transitioning into the professional Registered Nurse role. Emphasis is placed on safety, communication, care management, advocacy, legal and ethical issues, personal accountability, as well as evidenced based practice. Students will also develop strategies for effective self-care as a professional nurse. There will be a review of the historical perspective of nursing and its impact on the current role of the nurse and healthcare system. In this course students will also develop a systematic plan for successfully entering the workforce upon graduation from the nursing program. Prerequisite(s): Officially accepted into the ADN Bridge Program and “C” or better in PSYC 201 , COMM 103 , BIOL 213 , BIOL 214 , BIOL 276 , ENGL 101 , and MATH 105 and hold an unencumbered LPN license. To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of a “C” or better, in all program specific general education courses & required program courses. Concurrent: NURS 209
