NURS 218 - Behavioral Health Dynamics

This lecture course is designed to introduce nursing students to the role of the Registered Nurse as it relates to psycho-social integrity of various age groups and populations, including the individual, families, communities, and society. Historical and current issues, in addition to scientific and theoretical principles related to behavioral and psychiatric health and illness are explored. Students will review and build upon previously learned theoretical foundations of physiology, psychology, nursing, and interpersonal communications refining their clinical judgment skills to understand effective utilization of the nursing process in providing  competent nursing care to populations within the context of behavioral health. Prerequisite(s): Must have a “C” or better in BIOL 276 , NURS 212 NURS 214 NURS 216  and PSYC 201 . To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of a “C” or better, in all program specific general education courses & required program courses. Concurrent: NURS 220
