PMED 282 - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Credit(s): 1 Contact Hours: 1
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed to provide an opportunity for development of the necessary knowledge and skills needed to recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. A combination of didactic and simulation methodologies is utilized to emphasize a team approach in the emergency management of pediatric patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest, from the early minutes through patient stabilization and/or the transport phases of pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital. This course provides teaching and evaluation in keeping with standards of care and current guidelines as set forth by the American Heart Association. Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into Paramedic Associate in Applied Science, following the course sequence and “C” or better in all program courses, or permission of the Instructor.
