NURS 147 - Practical Nursing of the Maternal Child Unit Clinic

This course provides a family center approach to the care of childbearing women, newborns and children.  Practical nursing students will observe the birthing process as well as provide basic postpartum and newborn care in the clinical and simulation settings.  Experiences with the pediatric population will be focused on the growth and development process as well as common diseases.  Focus and discussions of the common health disparities for the maternal/child population in the geographical area of practice will also be a focus of this clinical course. Entrance in the PN nursing program and courses completed in sequence. To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of C or better in practical nursing program courses.
