NURS 106 - Physiological Adaptation for the Practical Nurse

This course will introduce students to basic systems-based human anatomy, physiology, common pathology, and other common alterations of health and focus on integration of this knowledge into the role of the LPN in providing nursing care across the lifespan.  Foundational level focused attention on specific body systems, and underlying causes and risk factors related to specific disorders and the anticipated corresponding diagnostics and current treatment modalities will be explored. Specific content areas covered include alterations in health related to cells, tissues, organs, and the various body systems, including: integumentary, musculoskeletal, endocrine, nervous, cardiac, vascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. BIOL 104 Human Biology or BIOL 213 and BIOL 214 with a C or better.  Officially accepted into the Practical Nursing Certificate program and following the required sequence of courses.  To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of C or better in Practical Nursing program courses.
