Description
Bay College ECE Program is a flexibly-paced, Competency-Based Education (CBE) program. This degree pathway prepares students to work in various early childhood care and education settings including Head Start, Early Head Start, GSRP or State-funded Pre-K, private childcare centers, and family childcare homes. Roles vary and may include: lead teacher, associate teacher, home visitor/parent educator, caregiver, and program director. Bay’s ECE Program curriculum is aligned with the AAS degree teacher preparation standards issued by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Council for Professional Recognition (CDA). Students will gain ECE knowledge and go on to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children ages birth-8 covering all content areas. The AAS Degree requirements include 200 hours of practicum field experience in an early childhood setting. The AAS Degree in ECE provides the foundation for advanced studies in Early Childhood teacher prep at Michigan colleges and universities offering the Birth to Kindergarten Teacher Certification.
