1025 Tobacco-Free Environment Policy

It shall be the policy of the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees to provide a healthy, comfortable, and productive environment for students, faculty, and staff, in compliance with Act. No. 198 of the Public Acts of 1986. Bay de Noc Community College shall be free of the use of all forms of tobacco products, including cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos, hookah-smoked products, pipes, oral tobacco and nasal tobacco, as well as any product intended to mimic tobacco products, contain tobacco flavoring, or deliver nicotine other than for the purpose of cessation.

This policy shall include all Bay College property including the Bay College Apartments and the property located at 2600 College Avenue.

Signs shall be posted on every entrance to every college facility stating the intent of this policy.

The use of smokeless tobacco is prohibited on College property (i.e. vapor or vaping, chewing, etc.).

Complaint procedure: The success of this policy will depend upon the thoughtfulness, consideration, and cooperation of smokers and nonsmokers. All students and employees share in the responsibility for adhering to and enforcing the policy. Tobacco use on campus will be considered a violation of conduct standards at the College, and violations will result in student or employee disciplinary procedures.

  1. Employees violating the policy will be subject to Policy 812 Disciplinary Actions Policy.
  2. Students violating the policy will be subject to disciplinary actions as detailed in the College Catalog (“Student Conduct and Discipline”).
