1008 Governmental Activities Policy

It shall be the policy of the Bay de Noc Community College Board of Trustees to encourage Trustee, employee and student participation in those governmental affairs which advance the purposes of the College and to encourage all to participate actively in a variety of citizenship opportunities, in accordance with applicable law.

Procedure:

The President of the College has the primary responsibility for implementing this policy. The Board of Trustees, as individuals and collectively, will assume an active role. Every employee has a supportive and cooperative role.

The College will invite elected officials and others who influence the governmental process to visit the campus frequently and will attempt to schedule meetings with them.

Employees who assist with governmental activities as they affect the College are expected to provide the President with an advance notice whenever possible of such participation and current information regarding the activity.

The College shall encourage all its employees to freely participate in political processes of local, state, and national importance and shall not hamper or direct an employee’s partisan volunteer work or his/her financial support of political candidates or causes.

1008.5


A College employee shall not represent his/her opinion as the position of the Board of Trustees or the College.
