NURS 235 - Obstetrical and Pediatric Nursing Theory Credit(s): 4 Contact Hours: 4
This lecture course is designed to further develop nursing knowledge as it relates to care of the obstetrical, neonatal, and pediatric patients. This course will emphasize use of clinical judgment and the nursing process in providing competent care to these specialized populations. Additionally, students will explore quality improvement initiatives and patient advocacy as they relate to caring for obstetrical, neonatal, and pediatric patients within the framework of family centered care. Upon successful completion, students will be able to provide safe, entry level, nursing care to the family unit incorporating and applying the concepts identified in this course. Prerequisite(s): Must have a “C” or better in BIOL 276 , NURS 212 , NURS 214 , NURS 216 and PSYC 201 . To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of a “C” or better, in all program specific general education courses & required program courses. Concurrent: NURS 237 , NURS 239
